New mural unveiled at Ada Infrastructure’s East London Docklands Data Centre Campus
Renowned artist Rosie Woods unveils new art installation celebrating the positive impact of digital technology at Ada Infrastructure’s flagship Docklands Data Centre Campus in the Royal Docks, Newham.
The mural, which was commissioned by Ada as part of the London Mural Festival, will be on display across the Docklands Data Campus site’s hoardings, with construction works due to start at one of London’s largest data centres early next year.
London, UK, October 29, 2024 - Ada Infrastructure, is delighted to unveil a new mural at their Docklands Data Campus celebrating the digital revolution at this year’s London Mural Festival.
The installation has been designed by renowned artist Rosie Woods, who is recognised as one of the 50 essential contemporary artists in the publication ‘Street Art by Women’. Rosie was also commissioned last year by Meta to paint an augmented reality mural at their headquarters in Silicon Valley.
The new mural, which will be on display across the Docklands site hoardings, depicts binary code in a flowing composition that includes a blend of rich purple and vibrant green. At the heart of this installation was Woods’ desire to create a strong feminine identity that celebrates women’s role in the development of the digital revolution, beginning with Ada Lovelace (1815-1852), recognized as the computer programmer.
Speaking about the installation, Rosie said: ‘I’ve always seen maths and science as poetic art and that has guided my inspiration for this mural. Data plays an important role in everyday life and this installation celebrates that, and the growing prominence of the digital revolution. Through collaboration with technology, we can create something truly beautiful.’
Ada Infrastructure received a resolution for planning on the Docklands Data Campus from Newham Council in June of this year. Its flagship project in the United Kingdom, includes three 70 MW data centre buildings and a community multi-purpose facility. In partnership with Ada Infrastructure, the facility will be available to the City of Newham for job training programs to enhance local opportunities and foster careers across the digital infrastructure and technology sectors.
The new development will also significantly enhance the public spaces around the site, including improved pathways for pedestrians and cyclists along the River Thames.
Jennifer Weitzel, President of Ada Infrastructure, said: ‘Rosie’s installation is testament to the importance of data and technology in modern society and represents a major milestone in our first development in the United Kingdom. We are excited for construction to begin on this landmark project and look forward to visitors experiencing the wonder of Rosie’s great work for years to come.’
